C.B.I.

What is Career Based Intervention?

Career Based Intervention is designed to help students learn employability skills while they take classes to earn their high school diploma.

Students who are selected for the CBI program will have one of two work periods and one Career Related class in their nine period schedule. There is still time for electives and extracurricular activities left in your daily schedule.

Throughout the school year CBI students have seven opportunities to increase their hourly wage based on performance in and out of CBI. There are added incentives for attendance, academics, and behavior at school and your job. Students who are chosen for the CBI program are expected improve upon their past at Everts Middle School (and they do!).

What can CBI do for me?

Employability Skills and Job Skills
As a student in CBI you must have a job. In getting that job you will learn how to properly fill out an application and interviewing skills. Throughout the course of the year during Career Related you will create your own resume, write letters of intent, and further your interviewing skills. During your time spent at your job station you will also work on your skills/work ethic to help you keep jobs in the future.

In Career Related class we also work on your knowledge of labor laws, safety, and scenarios to help you better handle real situations in the work place.

What are the requirements?

  •  Have a genuine interest in what the program has to offer and be willing to work.
  •  Be a student who is 14 or will turn 14 within the school year.
  •  Completed CBI application with two teacher referrals.
  •  Current physical to obtain work permit.

(Work permits are taken care of during the first week of school in CBI class.)
