Whether the book report is oral or written use the following outline in preparing it.
1. Significance of the title.
2. Time of action-length of the story from beginning to end (a day, a week, a year.)
3. Setting or settings in which the story takes place.
4. Main characters and their roles
List each principal character
and give a brief description of each.
5. Summary of the plot
Give a brief summary of your
play according to the happenings and events.
You may build to a climax and
then not reveal the ending.
6. Character analysis
Choose ONE character and reveal his/her
appearance, personality, mannerisms, philosophies in detail, ect. to support
him as the main character of your choice. Which character would you be
and why.
7. Author's motive -Theme-
Reveal any hidden meaning from
this play or any philosophy that the author is trying to promote. Is there a
moral to the story? If so, what
is it?
8. What is your opinion of the book? WHY did you like or dislike the
book?
Give some specific reasons for
your opinion and tell weaknesses even if you liked the book or tell strengths
even if you disliked it.
1. Was there a crime? What's the mystery?
2. Who wants to know what happened or to solve the mystery?
3. Did the author reveal who "did it" directly or just imply?
4. What details were important and why?
5. Did the author try to mislead you with other suspects?
6. Was it suspenceful? [Entire book or just sections]
7. How was the suspense developed?
