#1. NOVEL/PLAY Report Information



Usually this will be 3 to 5 minutes, but times will
vary with the class.


Use the following outline in preparing your Power Point
presentation:

1. Title. Explain significance of the title. How is the title related to the book?

2. Time of action or length of the story from beginning to end.
(A day, a week, a year, or if indefinite - several months, a few days, a lifetime..)

3. Main setting or main settings in which the story takes place

4. Main characters and their roles. State each of the principal characters and give
a brief description of each (limit as necessary).

5. Summary of the plot.
Give a brief summary of the novel according to the happenings and events.You may
build to a climax and then stop. (Probably not more than 30 seconds should be spent
on this section)

6. Character analysis.
Choose one character and reveal his or her appearance, mannerism, & philosophies
in detail to support chime or her as the main character of your choice.

7. Personal choice character.
Which character would you be and why; none is not a choice, you must pick one.

8. Author's motive or theme.
Reveal any meaning, philosophy, or lesson the author is trying to promote. Is there
a moral to the story? If so, what is it?

9. Does the theme have universality?
(In other words, what does it say about human nature or about human life in general?
What struggles or problems that all humans experience does the theme include?)

10. State your opinion of the book. Tell why you like or dislike the book. Give specific reasons for your opinion and tell the weaknesses even if you liked the book and tell the strengths even if you disliked it.

11. Is this book realistic or idealistic?

12. Do any objects, characters, or settings represent something? In other words, is there any symbolism in this novel?
